What We Do

Our work focuses on five main areas

Fruit Distribution

We are making amazing moments with the adults and kids of rural  villages of Raigad District in Maharashtra. By sharing fruits, we are helping our souls to illuminate by bringing smiles to their faces. It’s not just about fruits, we have become part of their lives and they have become an important part of ours. In this occupied world, the most precious gift one can give to someone is a smile; if you get it from someone, you are blessed; if you give it to someone, you are divine

Tree plantation

Everyone knows that trees are a very important part of life but still humans are destroying trees all around in the name of infrastructure and development. Trees not only give us oxygen to breathe and to live a healthy life in a healthy atmosphere but also give shade in hot summers, fruits to eat, flowers to blossom, leaves to nourish and a disease-free atmosphere. Thus, at Guru Nanak Dwaar we are working to Save the Green by doing as much tree plantation as possible and playing our role to serve our mother earth.

Sprots Competitions & tournaments

A proactive attitude and healthy competitive spirit are often missing in the weaker sections of society. Being surrounded by poverty, they become demoralised and do not dare to create aspirations for themselves. This is why Guru Nanak Dwaar Foundation (in partnerships with our allies) regularly organises sports competitions and tournaments, such as Skateboarding, gatka, kabaddi and many other sports. These events attract youth and adult teams from all around the country, giving the local residents an opportunity to interact with those from outside their own circles. Witnessing the levels of discipline, skill and motivation which the competitors have, gives the rural youth a vision. They learn to believe that, if someone else can do it, they can do it too.

Empowering Divayang Community

Guru Nanak Dwaar Foundation wants every individual to have enough mobility to be independent. So far, we have donated 100s free walking sticks and wheelchairs to the physically challenged and elderly. Individuals who previously were highly dependent and unable to move around have been given a new sense of freedom. Increased mobility and independence can result in better mental health and more positive relationships with those around them. We value each member of society and will continue supporting all abilities to achieve their highest potential.

Motivation and empowerment workshops

Having a strong sense of identity and a feeling of belonging promotes mental health and wellbeing in children and society. One of the most widespread and prevalent initiatives by Guru Nanak Dwaar Foundation is its regular empowerment workshops. These one-day workshops help children, teenagers, parents learn how to interact with others with empathy and respect, as well as exploring their ways of managing crucial relationships in life. These workshops include an impressive array of educational lectures, informal discussions, arts and crafts activities, sports and games, team building sessions, classical music and meditation, all of which instil a wide range of skills. Hundreds of workshops have been delivered in India and abroad covering rural to urban surroundings, and continue to be organised with ever-increasing numbers attending.

Yoga and Fitness

Guru Nanak Dwaar is committed to our mission to create a platform where all traditional and modern styles of yoga can come together and learn from each other. Moreover, we want to promote not just asana but all the limbs and types of yoga, and encourage yogis to bring forth the forgotten secrets of yoga for the benefit of one and all. We also aim to set the benchmarks, with the help of the experts, to maintain the authenticity of yoga.

Our vision is that India, the land of yoga, keeps enhancing and giving birth to many more yogis. Over time, as they manifest the power of yoga in front of everyone, as stated in ancient texts, more people will believe and become inspired. This is how the beauty of yoga will stay alive with future generations. We wish to see yoga become part of every person’s life and enrich it with health, happiness and harmony.

Free Food (Langar)

Guru Nanak Dwaar Foundation provides free meals and tea for hundreds of people, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is an ongoing initiative. The free kitchens are located at multiple locations in Delhi, Maharashtra and Punjab. A strong team of volunteers maintains this daily operation of cooking and serving the meals and hot drinks throughout the day.

Sports & Fitness

One of our visions is to inspire and empower Indian youth through sports and fitness. By focusing their mental and physical efforts on sports, the youth will stay away from negative influences (such as drugs and alcohol). They will develop life skills such as ambition, discipline and confidence, which will help them pursue their goals in life. As a result, their families will benefit from their success and hard work. In this way, the efforts of the youth will empower the entire community.

Tree plantation

Children deserve to be happy and carefree. They deserve to rest, relax and enjoy their days. There is currently a notable lack of public play areas and children’s parks in the local vicinity. Parents and children have limited places to visit outside the home, where they can enjoy each others’ company and make new friends. Play areas help children to learn essential skills, such as fine & gross motor development and social interaction. Mata Sahib Kaur Sewewala Welfare Society will be opening two brand new children’s play areas in the near future, with a goal to open more in surrounding areas.
